Jones Makes Lone Star Statement

Erik Jones put on a dazzling performance at Texas Motor Speedway where counterpart Matt Crafton normally dominates, leading 117 of 147 laps to win last Friday’s WinStar World Casino 350. Martinsville Victory Revives Matt Crafton’s Truck Series Title Hopes

Those who were delivering a post-mortem to Matt Crafton’s hopes for a third straight NASCAR Camping World Truck Series title after last weekend’s race at Talladega learned on Saturday that the lid on the coffin is far from nailed shut.

Crafton survived five restarts in the last 50 laps of Saturday’s Kroger 200 at Martinsville Speedway and won the race by 0.396 seconds over John Hunter Nemechek, who shoved third-place finisher Cameron Hayley out-of-the-way after a restart with two laps left to secure the runner-up position. With temperatures approaching 100 degrees, Cunningham Motorsports had a banner day with all three ARCA Racing Series teams finishing in the top-four spots of the #Thisismyspeedway 150 at Iowa Speedway on Friday night.

Kyle Weatherman came ‘oh so close’ to a victory after losing the lead on the last lap and challenging to retake the lead on the last turn, Weatherman came home with a runner-up finish with his teammates closing in behind. Veteran, Tom Hessert finished third with Austin Cindric finishing fourth in his ARCA Racing Series début.  Continue reading
