It may have taken awhile, but the race ended in triumph for Trevor Bayne. After two rain-delays, the Nationwide Series Race at Iowa Speedway finally ran in its entirety on Sunday morning and afternoon. It looked like Austin Dillon was going to run away with the race, but a late race battle sent Bayne to the top spot and Dillon had to settle for second. The race had a decent amount of action and ended with a familiar car doing a burn-out on the frontstretch – the no. 6 car. Continue reading

In a race that was won by a choice on pit road, rather than by speed on the race track, Joey Logano parlayed a strategic late-race call into victory in Saturday’s 5-Hour Energy 200 Nationwide Series race at Dover International Speedway.

Logano trailed race leader Kyle Busch by five seconds with 40 laps left, but a two-tire under the fifth and final caution got Logano out front for a restart with 34 laps left, while a four-tire choice on the same pit stop buried Kyle Busch in traffic and changed the course of the race. Another outstanding and dominant performance by Kyle Busch led him to victory lane Friday night at Darlington. He remained up front in the VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200 for most of the night and by the time the checkered flag fell, he was the leader.

This is Busch’s fifth Nationwide Series victory of the season and his seventh NASCAR win so far in 2013. Busch proved how dominant he is in this race and may only be a warm-up for what will come in tomorrow’s Cup race.

Other than a few cautions, this race went by fairly quickly. Busch led for about the first 50 laps before his teammate, Matt Kenseth, beat him off of pit-road to snag the lead. The caution that set up the lead change, featured another of Busch’s teammates, Elliot Sadler. Sadler spun between turns one and two, but that didn’t slow him down as he ended the night finishing second. Continue reading

Denny Hamlin will race this weekend. How Much? That is still  unknown, but Hamlin has been medically cleared to get back in the race car for this weekend. This is the first time Denny Hamlin will get in a race car since his wreck at Auto Club Speedway over four weeks ago.

Denny Hamlin tweeted earlier this week that he would be getting back in the race car, only to have NASCAR say they do not have medical clearance from doctors. Well, last night NASCAR confirmed that Denny Hamlin has been medically cleared by doctors to race this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. Continue reading

The whole race changed after the eleventh and last caution came out in Saturday night’s Toyota Owners 400, as most of the drivers pitted while a few stayed out. When the green flag fell for the restart, craziness ensued and Kevin Harvick came out of nowhere to take the lead with two laps to go. That pass for the lead left him in victory lane after a race that could resulted in at least ten different winners. The ‘Closer’ did it again by doing what he does best and taking the victory after taking the lead late in the race. Carnage was the name of the game leading up to the last restart, but that wild ending will forever be the legacy of this race. Continue reading
