A clutch restart earns Martin Truex Jr first-ever Phoenix win in the NASCAR Cup Series Instacart 500 on Sunday afternoon.

The NASCAR Cup Series wrapped up its two-weekend stint out west with a 312 lap race at Phoenix Raceway. Phoenix is a unique course due to its dog-legged front stretch where drivers use up the whole racing surface. This one-mile course is one of the most demanding on the schedule. Drivers need to use great discipline while braking into the corners to not overuse the brakes too early. With high heat, and constant need to break into the corner, teams often suffer from a brake failure throughout the race.

On the Hot Seat: Brad Keselowski is the second installment in a series examining drivers who might be in a different spot for next season.  This may be due to contract prospects, developments in the sport, or evolving interests.

By all accounts, Brad Keselowski is in the prime of his career.  The 2012 NASCAR Cup Series Champion currently drives the No. 2 Ford for Team Penske, where he has been their driver since 2010.  All but one of Keselowski’s 34 Cup Series wins are with Team Penske, as well as his 2012 Championship.  Keselowski is a premier driver in the sport and can be counted on for several wins per year.  He also has two appearances in the Championship 4, most recently in 2020.  Despite all of this, there is significant uncertainty as to the prospects for Keselowski at Team Penske.

Christopher Bell earns first win in the NASCAR Cup Series on the Daytona Road Course by passing Joey Logano late on Sunday afternoon.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – For the second consecutive week, Daytona International Speedway crowned a first-time NASCAR Cup Series race winner. Joe Gibbs Racing driver, Christopher Bell, earned the honor Sunday on the track’s road course, taking the lead from Joey Logano with two laps to go and pulling away to a comfortable 2.119-second victory over the former series champion.
