He’s Back! Kyle Busch Returns for the Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte

On Tuesday, after clearance from his doctors, Joe Gibbs Racing driver Kyle Busch has announced he is returning to Sprint Cup Series action this Saturday with the Sprint All-Star race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Earlier this season at Daytona International Speedway, Busch sustained injuries in the XFINITY Series race in February.  Continue reading

Who’s Next? Superspeedways are Super to First Time Winners

Earlier this season Ryan Reed became the seventh driver in series history to get his first NASCAR XFINITY Series career win at a superspeedway.

Who’s next?

Of the seven drivers who posted their first series career win at a superspeedway, only two have done it at Talladega – David Ragan (2009) and Greg Sacks (1996). The remaining five first-time winners all claimed their first victory at Daytona – Ryan Reed (2015), James Buescher (2012), Tony Stewart (2005), Chad Little (1995) and Dale Earnhardt (1982).  Continue reading

Erik Jones: The Bearer of Evolution in NASCAR

Most NASCAR fans were not overly familiar with an 18-year-old kid from Byron, Michigan named Erik Jones before the 2015 NASCAR season, but they are now.

 

Although Jones did post three wins in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series last season and with a recent NASCAR XFINITY Series win at Texas Motor Speedway, I really can’t image that anybody would have seen the tremendous leap he has taken in becoming the potential face of Joe Gibbs Racing’s future

 

Which brings up a question in itself? What does Joe Gibbs Racing/JGR do with a young man as talented as Jones, when the team has four seats filled up with stars in the Sprint Cup Series? Continue reading

Round Two of Sprint Cup Testing at Charlotte Motor Speedway – Entry List

Teams will have a second crack at Charlotte Motor Speedway with the Generation six car before the new season starts. Sprint Cup teams will test at Charlotte Thursday and Friday. Many more teams will be at Charlotte those two days, than the first test in mid December of 2012. There are 33 cars on the entry list for the test session, where drivers and crews should find out much more about the Generation six car and what they can do to improve with more drivers’ input.
