NASCAR: An American Salute Continues Independence Day Weekend; Speedway to Host Medal of Honor Recipients, Active Service Members and Veterans

In a show of appreciation for the United States Armed Forces, NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers will bear the names of active military units and installations on their race car windshields during Friday’s Subway Firecracker 250 Powered By Coca-Cola at Daytona International Speedway at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN, MRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

The 82nd Airborne Division, 1st Marine Raider Battalion and the USS New York (LPD-21) are among the military units and installations from all five branches that will replace the ‘XFINITY’ header on NASCAR XFINITY Series cars. Continue reading

NASCAR XFINITY Series teams are taking a well-deserved break this weekend and will return to action next Friday, July 1st for 100 laps covering 250 miles in the Subway Firecracker 250 powered by Coca-Cola at Daytona International Speedway. This marks the season debut for NBC Sports Network as they begin coverage at 7 pm ET with a green flag around 7:30 pm ET. Radio coverage is available on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.

Chase Outlook: The Skinny on Where the Winners Shake Out

A little down time due to the off-weekend provides the perfect setting to take a look ahead at the three drivers who have raced their way into the 2016 NASCAR XFINITY Series Chase with wins – Erik Jones, Daniel Suárez and Elliott Sadler.

If the XFINITY Series Chase were to start today, Joe Gibbs Racing’s Erik Jones would be seeded in the No. 1 position. Jones is now seventh in the standings but has two wins at Bristol and Dover this season, giving him six bonus points once the Chase begins. JGR’s Sunoco Rookie candidate, Jones, has been quite impressive this season, posting five poles and a series leading eight top-fives. NASCAR Season-To-Date Loop Data also paints a more detailed picture of Jones’ success this season. NASCAR Camping World Truck Series teams are back in action for 134 laps totalling 201 miles in the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 on Friday, May 20th at Charlotte Motor Speedway. FOX Sports 1 will begin their pre-race coverage at 8 pm ET with a green flag around 8:30 pm ET.  Preceding this race is the Sprint Showdown also on FOX Sports one starting at 7 pm ET.

After leading the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series with six victories in 2015, Matt Crafton visited Victory Lane for the first time this season when he captured his 12th career checkered flag at Dover International Speedway. Gibbs has a Good One in Erik Jones

Joe Gibbs Racing continues to shell out talent in NASCAR and its latest prodigy, Erik Jones, has broken the mold.

In ten starts this season, Jones has two victories at Bristol and Dover, two Dash 4 Cash wins totaling $200,000 of bonus money and six top-fives. Plus, the 19-year-old is virtually locked into the NASCAR XFINITY Series Chase due to his multiple wins, provided he stays in the top-30 in points.  Continue reading

Erik Jones Dashes to Second XFINITY Series Win

NASCAR’s new Dash 4 Cash format agrees with Erik Jones – even when his No. 20 Toyota is running on older tires.

Despite staying out on used rubber for a restart with five laps left in Saturday’s Ollie’s Bargain Outlet 200 at Dover International Speedway, Jones pulled away to beat runner-up Darrell Wallace Jr. to the finish line by 1.434 seconds.

The victory was Jones second of the year, both on concrete tracks (Bristol and Dover). He has now won two of the three NASCAR XFINITY Series races held under the new Dash 4 Cash format, which features two heat races and a main event.
