The second round of the 2022 playoffs kicked off with a 500-mile race at Texas Motor Speedway. It was a hot weekend that limited the handling ability of several next-gen racecar drivers. For the first road course race of 2022, the Circuit of the Americas put on a great event. After last year’s monsoon cut the race short, the course was able to show its true potential in great weather. This course is packed with 20 bruising corners that give drivers a challenge with holding momentum. It is tough for drivers to run a consistent line around the course, and with that, nobody has an advantage.

AUSTIN, Texas – Ultimately, Zane Smith was out front when it paid off Saturday afternoon at the Circuit of The Americas road course. He led only 11 of the 46 laps – winning Stage 1, Stage 2 and then took the race lead with two laps remaining in the second overtime period to earn the victory in the XPEL 225 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race.
